NEURO LINGUSTIC PROGRAMME

NLP workshop was organized by APS Birpur on 04 March 2017 by the renowned resource person Dr. Dheeraj Mehrotra Vice President, Next Education NLP Trainer and Practitioner. Teachers from various schools like Scholar’s Home, Home Academy Rishikesh and Indian Public School also attended the workshop. The workshop was all about Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) developed in the USA in the 1970’s. It has achieved widespread popularity as a method for communication and personal development. Bandler and grinder refer to purported systematic, cybernetic links between a person’s internal experience (Neuro) their language (Linguistic) and their patterns of behavior (programming). In essence NLP is a form of modeling that offers potential for systematic and detailed understanding of people’s subjective experience. Emphasis on rapport building with students and calibration of behavior by the teachers. Dr Dheeraj Mehrotra laid stress upon the model of achieving human excellence through NLP.

He also talked about presuppositions of NLP. There is no such thing as failure, there is only feedback. He said that an individual class is map for the teacher but the entire school is their territory. So all need to understand that map is not the territory and so all need to be accountable for all students irrespective of being from map or not.

He stressed on calibration of behavior to lead happy life. He discouraged the use of Try/but & if as these reflected negative belief instead and should be used. He motivated the teachers by addressing them as practitioner who deal with live people without Anesthesia . He explained NLP in a very lucid way with a mind maps and thereafter the teachers also in a group of 7-8 prepared their individual mind maps and presented group wise.

It was overall refreshing, rejuvenating and informative workshop. Invitation was floated to Sahodaya schools and 7 teachers representative form Scholar’s Home, Home Academy Rishikesh and Indian Public School also attended the same and get benefited.

APS Birpur participated in the ICT Conclave by Microsoft on 19 & 20 Oct 2016 held at Welham Boys School. Four students along with Mrs Manisha Dogra and Miss Nisha Gupta attended the same.  Mr Bhaskar Pramanik , Chairman Microsoft India was present , the students got an opportunity to listen to his views on changing time with improving technology. The teams were introduced to many programs of Microsoft which one always knew but never cared to use, thinking them difficult to use.  At the conclave it was not they not only explained the ease of using those applications like one note and all, but also explained how it can be used to improve the content and the way of teaching and how it has became a revolution in the field of teaching. Discussions followed including a skype session. The importance of skype in helping to connect students of different culture and language and helping them learn and also understand the world in a better way was emphasized. Today, schools have no boundaries when working with technology, a student can learn anything from anywhere with anyone. A controversial debate was followed, whether technology can replace a teacher or not and the conclusion was that “technology could be a substitute to content of teaching but it could never replace a teacher, nor can’t teach the values of life which a teacher comes with”. Other dignitaries included Dr Thakur who represented Ministry of Telecom of Govt. of India. He also focused on many steps taken by the government to advance the technology for betterment of students. He talked about digilocker, e-basta, NSP and many other things by which one could be benefitted. Then was introduced “Kodu” and “Touchdevelop.com” Kodu is a programme through which we can make games in a very easy way without help of programming languages. Similar to this was “touch develops” but with its help one could not only create games but also other apps. Apart from this the quiz conducted was really very informative and useful.

To summarize the event, ICT Conclave was one of the best examples of learning beyond time and learning beyond four walls.
